Kurdish Fighters Battle to Reclaim Kobani from ISIS

Are Kurds United in the Fight Against ISIS?

Special Report with Bret Baier

Summary below..

Brig. Gen. Ernie Audino (Ret.) was recently featured on FoxNews with Lisa Daftari, and Special Report with Bret Baier on the situations in Iraq and Kobani in Syrian Kurdistan, with reference to his sources on the ground and extensive background having been imbedded with the Kurds in Iraq.

The interviews include discussion on the importance of supporting Peshmerga, Kurdish military efforts, and defending the Kurds right to autonomous Energy trade so that the Kurdistan Regional Government can also engage in independent financing for defense and humanitarian aid.

According to the interview with General Audino, the Kurds need to access military support such as serious modern equipment, anti-tank weapons, ammunition, while the Kurds in Kobani are assisting in the targeting of air strikes, and while the humanitarian situation is imposing dramatic costs on the fighters. That by increasing support to Peshmerga, Kurdistan Regional Government effectively leverages the only military forces who are willing to take the fight to the enemy on the ground.

Further, there is a need to support Kurdish oil exports, and to defend the right of Kurdistan Regional Government to export their own oil. The KRG in particular in Iraq is fighting a very expensive fight, while the constitutionally guaranteed revenues have been withheld since January 2014. Energy trade and the resulting financing is needed to enable the Kurds to cover many of their own expenses independently.

Lastly, Gen. Audino reflected "If Kurdish unity was ever needed, it is needed now."
